TDWG 2026 workshop WKS50: ‘Living Atlases around ALA: From Deployment to Contribution and Future Technical Directions’

This workshop is a side event of the TDWG 2026 conference in Oslo, Norway, and will take place on Sunday 20 September 2026, from 9:00 to 16:00, at the Oslo Botanical Museum Auditorium.
The Living Atlases community, coordinated by the Atlas of Living Australia (ALA), is a global, open-source network supporting biodiversity data portals across multiple continents. Since 2013 it has enabled widespread adoption of shared infrastructure, standards and collaboration among GBIF nodes and partners.
The workshop addresses the evolving technical and organisational challenges of the community: supporting new deployments, improving the shared codebase, and adapting to architectural changes. It covers deployment strategies, best practices for contributing to the shared codebase, and emerging technical challenges such as interoperability and sustainability.
